ID consists of four painted panels and a digital collaged image referencing fragmented faces. The tactile painted panels transcend the more exploratory digital panel. They have been created using spray painting, glazes, sgraffito, and encaustic. The evocative work suggests the ghetto, urban poverty and the struggle of youth to find an identity within society. The concepts are integrated within the layers of the surfaces, suggesting ideas of memory and dislocation. The intuitive, engaging and experimental nature of this work suggests an understanding of art practice, painting techniques and conventions of representation.
