Band 2/3 Response 1
Dreaming consists of three studies of a boy and his dream car, in watercolour, aquarelle and graphite. Each artwork addresses a different compositional aspect. The luxurious car features in two of the three works. In each work the boy faces away from the audience, staring into a distant landscape which is devoid of detail. This assists in conveying an idea of dreaming. The timidity and lack of confidence in the use of materials could possibly relate to the concept of a dream-like atmosphere; however, greater refinement of visual or tactile qualities is necessary to sustain such a reading. The tentative use of media and restricted variation evidence a limited artmaking repertoire.
