Band 2/3 Response 1
Road Kill consists of lino block prints with some embossing and stencilling techniques. The scale and graphic presentation of this work has an initial impact on the viewer. The chequer-board composition is reminiscent of a board game, while the frontal image of the car poses an obvious threat to the wild life. The white embossed animals could represent ghostly images of the animals killed. The cutting of the lino blocks is rudimentary with little refinement, although the image of the car demonstrates a better understanding of form. There is a genuine attempt to engage in the process of printmaking; however, it remains simple and limited.
