The response is a fluent but general commentary on all the texts and needs a more sustained depth of analysis of individual texts. There is a genuine attempt to answer the question by focusing on the 'impact' and use of conventions to 'support' the composer's vision, although addressing the 'limits' of the conventions would strengthen the response. The response becomes stronger in the second half, demonstrating some sophisticated insight in relation to The Big Sleep and Seven.
