Beats is a lively and sustained composition of four portraits depicting seminal private moments of The Beatles. The intertextual interweaving of lyrics to contextualise and add narrative interest is effective. Independent biographical investigation evident. The Major Work is effectively structured and the narrative voices offer a fresh imaginative approach to the subject. Authenticity of emotion and voice are achieved on occasion. Some evocative descriptions help to establish context and atmosphere. The Reflection Statement offers a clearly framed purpose. While audience is identified, it is rather broad in focus. The Reflection Statement could have been strengthened by explicit examination of the features of the chosen medium.
