The response presents information in an organised manner to identify the effect of mutations and includes some simple diagrams to represent diploid cells. It demonstrates only a basic understanding of pedigrees, gene inheritance and the consequences of linked genes. A basic understanding of gene cloning and gene cascades is communicated in part (e) with frequent use of general biological terms.
