Seven Days is an imaginative reverse-creation narrative. The reader is effectively engaged by well-controlled form, meaning and language choices. The appropriation of Biblical images reinforce the theme of choice that humans have: the choices made can enhance or destroy the lives of others, but the distinction is not always clear. The futuristic images are evocative and generally avoid cliché, although the descriptive language is sometimes overworked which lessens the imagery's impact. The scientific detail indicates appropriate research and adds credibility to plot and characterisation. The Reflection Statement evaluates the work's literary influences clearly and indicates an appropriate level of investigation into narrative form and science fiction genre. Purpose and audience are clearly explained. The connection to the English Advanced course, although identified, could be discussed in more detail. Both sections of the work demonstrate a high level of structural and linguistic control.
