Reality: Nothing is Perfect is a single, large-scale drawing. A female figure is precariously balanced, surrounded by floating technological objects such as a computer and a satellite dish, and assorted weapons such as a gun, dynamite and an axe. Thickly applied oil pastels with minimal tonal variation represent the central figure and surrounding objects. The background comprises four coloured bands of lightly sketched crayon. The two different media application techniques produce a disjuncture in the work, with the weakness of the background detracting from the stronger central compositional features. Limited technical skill and inconsistent development of a concept provide little opportunity for audience to engage with the work.
