Band 2/3 Response 1
My Heaven is a single painting, exploring a personal theme with a degree of conviction. Eastern spirituality is apparently equated with the spiritual nature of an idyllic landscape. Composition has been explored to some extent, but there is little attempt at tonal modelling, a shallow sense of depth, and a somewhat naive understanding of the possibilities of compositions and spatial organisation. There is some degree of subtlety in the use of colour, but the work as a whole retains characteristics of a simple outline drawing with paint being used, in an almost incidental form, to fill areas with colour.
