Human Slash Nature is a series of black and white photographs and appropriate quotes exploring the negative impact humans have had on the natural environment. The images have been cropped and composed using the viewfinder to take the viewer on a deliberate, contemplative journey. The use of the black and white medium creates a contrast between the built and natural environments. The variety of scale in the selection of images demonstrates a sustained and competent engagement with the medium. Poor tonal contrast and choice of an obvious and somewhat formulaic concept reduce the overall strength of the work.
