Band 1/2 Response 1
Cracked Identity Crisis is a series of black and white portraits using a cracked mirror, props and body language. The direct gaze and the selective use of the viewfinder indicate an effort to convey emotion and intimacy. The face and figure have been posed to confront the viewer and create a visual impact. Repetition of the cracked mirror in three images holds the attention of the viewer for only a limited time. The series works in an obvious manner and the “muddy”, poorly focused prints and poor lighting indicate a limited knowledge of both camera control and darkroom practice.
