Exemplar Response 2
Homage to Neshat, Klein and Hesse represents an intimate and forceful postmodern view of the notions of oppression and prejudice against women. The work communicates through veils, averted eyes, hushed mouths and expressive hand gestures, all of which evoke a silence which extends the imagery. Ironically, the conceptualisation of female repression confronts the viewer through sophisticated, assertive and culturally powerful symbols. Each form, refined and resolved within itself, is combined to form a unified subtle and confident communication based on extensive knowledge of the medium. A deep understanding of contemporary art practice is evident.
