Colours of the Colourful is a series of twelve colour reduction lino prints. It explores the face in detail and as a whole with the intent of communicating personality and joy through colour. The work appears animated and communicates the pleasure of laughter among friends. Various portrait conventions have been explored including half face, three quarter face as well as close-up details and images of the full face. A four-toned colour reduction relief printing process has used bright primary and secondary colours reminiscent of Pop Art to symbolise the vibrant personalities of the chosen subjects. Each print demonstrates a consistent level of engagement and understanding in the use of tone to create form. Inconsistencies in ink application and printing have caused some bleeding in some areas.
