Band 6 Response Low
Allegria consists of four figurative forms, which can be explored individually or as a group. There is a surreal, lyrical quality achieved by the juxtaposition of the ladders, which dramatise the balletic positions of the figures as they extend their limbs into space. The well-contracted clay figures combine with the supporting props to create a theatrical stage-like setting. Negative space is as important as the positive. The work is well considered and the forms are soundly constructed. They display, however, some insensitive joining and inconsistency in the forms.
