Kitty the Great and Untitled Tessellation attempts to represent a cartoon-like image of a white kitten from popular children's fiction and merchandise in a naïve painting and large ceramic form. The ceramic form is thick and heavy, decorated with dense opaque glaze applied in a literal representation of the image. The painting has a flat illustrative approach with some attempts to represent surfaces. The design panel consists of origami stars embedded in glue onto a flat, black background. Simple and literal representations of the subject reflect limited engagement with conceptual practice and understanding of the possibilities of a range of media.
