Emotional Touch is a set of freestanding sculptures. The rhythmic composition attempts to represent emotions such as hope, faith and togetherness, with the virtues which the gesture represents written on the ribbon entwining each hand. The varying heights of the hands are engaging. The subtle colouring of the grogged clay hands integrates well with the greyed plinths. The colour restraint is a good decision, enhancing and unifying the forms. Some of the hands are cropped with sensitivity and are modelled in a slightly expressionistic way. When arranged as a group, this creates a pleasing interplay and rhythm throughout the work.
